Top-Up Swimming Lessons
Saxon Crown Swimming Club, funded by Lewisham Council and supported by 1Life, is providing free school top-up swimming sessions to students of Lewisham primary schools. The sessions are provided to help swimmers achieve the National Curriculum standard in swimming, which requires children to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres, use a range of strokes effectively and perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations. The sessions are for Lewisham Primary School Pupils in Year 4 and above, and will be running at Downham Health & Leisure Centre during school holidays.
To register interest please email: developmentofficer@saxoncrown.org.uk
Bookings can only be made via this email address, not through the centre directly. Each top up course runs from Monday to Friday and participants are expected to attend every day.

LEWISHAM PRIMARY SCHOOLS SWIMMING GALA
Downderry have been invited to the 2020 Annual Lewisham Primary Schools Gala to be held at Glass Mill Leisure Centre on Friday 20th March 2020. The gala is being presented by Saxon Crown Swimming Club, the Lewisham Borough club, in partnership with Fusion Lifestyle.
There will be no finals at the gala as all results will be decided on a heat declared winner basis. The Gala will start at 2:30pm (warm up will be at 2:00pm) and should finish around 6:00pm.
It is hoped the Gala will be an opportunity to recognise the most talented swimmers in the borough and provide opportunities for all pupils to participate in competitive swimming. For example, swimmers that perform well may be chosen to represent Lewisham at the London Youth Games – Mini Games.
The Gala is open to swimmers currently in school years 5 and 6, consisting of 1 length races in each of the four competitive strokes. There will be girls’ and boys’ events for each of the four strokes, along with mixed Freestyle and Medley Relay events. The Gala will be run in accordance with ASA Rules.
