Meet the Governors
Parent Governor Election
Due to the end of term office of our two parent governors, we are now seeking to appoint new parents onto our school’s governing body. I am writing to invite nominations to fill these vacancies. Please think about becoming a governor, or encouraging others to volunteer.
Parent governors are welcomed as valued members of the governor team and play an important role; the governing body works together as a group, meeting at least once every half term. Together they are responsible for the strategic direction of the school, promoting high standards of educational achievement and ensuring our resources are used to maximum impact for all children. Life as a governor is interesting and varied and we feel sure that there are parents prepared to take on this important role and give their time and commitment to helping us to continue to improve the school's performance.
The governing body focuses its time and energy on school improvement. Governors work collectively to support and strengthen the leadership of the Executive Headteacher and challenge where necessary. Governors play a strategic role; the Headteacher is responsible for the routine running of the school.
The government expects governing bodies to have a strong focus on three core strategic functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and the performance management of staff
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
