2018

For STEM week the children have been “Exploring”. Children have been researching and building vehicles that can explore the polar regions, the deepest ocean and even space!

We even had a visit from Professor Nitrate and his ‘explosive’ experiments!

Reception

Reception focused on the exploration of 'Under the Sea'. We looked at sea creatures in depth and even made our own fact books. Our maths for the week was focused on capacity and we developed our creative skills by making submarines using junk modelling materials.

Year 2

Year 2 studied Ranulph Finnes for their topic and looked closely at his expedition to the South Pole. We compared temperatures of the Arctic to London, wrote a fact file about Ranulph Finnes an made our own pick axes!

Year 5

Year 5 read about Robert Scott’s expedition to the South Pole and researched the dangers his team faced in Antarctica. We then made model sleds, looking at the materials that would cause the least friction. In PE, we did team building and problem-solving games in relationship to Scott’s journey across the Antarctic.
