DOWNDERRY PUPILS WATCH LEGENDS AT THE LAVER CUP

The Laver Cup pits six of the best men’s tennis players from Europe against six of their best counterparts from the rest of the world. On Thursday, our year 5 girls' football team attended the Laver Cup Practice Day and got to see 4 legends play a doubles match. Somewhat unbelievably, our girls watched Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal play against Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic - a truly once in a lifetime experience.

ELITE ATHLETE INSPIRES DOWNDERRY

This week we welcomed international athlete, Frederick Afrifa, to our school. Frederick challenged the children to complete a high intensity circuit session, then, in an assembly, described his journey to achieve his dream of one day competing in the Olympics. His core messages were ‘keep moving forwards’ and ‘never give up’. We hope he has inspired our children to stay active and understand what is required to achieve your ambition.
