VE Day
Fri 08 May 2015Friday 8 May 2015 is the anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe Day), marking 70 years since the end of the Second World War in Europe. Three days of events in London and across the UK will mark this historic anniversary. The celebrations will include: beacon-lighting events, parades, street parties and on Sunday a fly-past over Central London.
At school children learnt about this momentous occasion and what it means to us as a nation. We observed 2 minutes silence to mark the moment Winston Churchill broadcast his historic speech formally announcing the end of the war.

“Yesterday we held our own General Election. Children got to vote for the 3 main political parties. Justin represented Labour, Ovue the Liberal Democrats and Shifa represented the Conservatives. Our candidates delivered their manifestoes in the morning assembly. Our results for the Downderry constituency placed Labour 1st.”

Community Champions
Fri 01 May 2015Last Sunday many of us were relaxing at home, watching the London Marathon on television, being inspired by the many heroic stories and physical exertions of its competitors. Behind the scenes two of our pupils, Sonny Peto and Violet Mae, were following in the footsteps of the masses to tidy the streets. Our community champions had a fabulous day, meeting famous people and receiving medals for their efforts.
