    Before Christmas Parents, Carers and pupils were invited to comment on the school through our termly questionnaires. Below are selected headlines.

    99% parents and carers would recommend the school to another parent.

    100% reported that your child is well looked after at school.

    100% reported that your child is well taught at the school.

    Pupil Views

    99% pupils said that they learn a lot in class.

    100% said that behaviour in school is good.

    100% children said they feel safe in school.

  • Christmas Fair

    Thank you to all parents, carers and friends who came along to the Christmas fair. We would also like to say a massive thank you for all your donations and support.

     

    The amount we raised was £630.57! This will be going towards a variety of things within the school to support the children's experiences and learning!

  • Christmas Jumper Day

    On Friday (18th December) children were raising money for Save the Children by wearing our Christmas Jumpers to school. We will inform you of the total raised next term.

  • Children in Need

    Thank you to everyone who came to school dressed as their favourite nursery rhyme character and donated money to Children in Need. We raised £257.80 for charity.

  • Poppy Appeal

    Thanks to everyone who bought a poppy for Remembrance day. Downderry raised a fantastic £454.79 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. Together, all schools in the BR1/BR2 area raised a massive £10,253 to fund welfare work for our Armed Forces families.

  • Remembrance Day

    Downderry, along with other local Downham  schools, joined together at a remembrance service for our fallen heroes. 

  • Athletics

    On Thursday, a group of year 5 and 6 children, represented Downderry at an athletics tournament and we won!

    The children competed in indoor field events and running races. We won every running race apart from one! The team worked together brilliantly, they were encouraging one another from the side lines and showing great respect to all of the other teams. Everyone at Downderry is immensely proud!

    Phoenix housing have designed and built a fantastic display area on the corner of Downderry Road. Pricilla (year 6) and Victoria (year 2) have been chosen to have their art work displayed, alongside some children from Bonus Pastor and New Woodlands. Go up and have a look at their great art work. 

  • South Bank Centre Visit

    On Thursday, five pupil ambassadors from year 5 and 6 visited the South Bank Centre to take part in the WHY? festival for peace.

  • Football

    On Saturday the year 6 Football team kicked off the Lewisham Schools League season with two matches against Eliot Bank and St William of York.

    A goal in each half and a penalty saved by our goalkeeper Phri, gave Downderry a 2-0 victory over Eliot Bank. Which was followed by a great team effort and a convincing 4-0 victory over St William of York. Well done! Go to the Teams & Competitions section of our website to read the full match report.
