  • Christmas Album

    Downderry children have recorded an album of Christmas carols. CDs will be available at the Christmas Fair and from the office at £2 each. They would make a great gift for friends and relatives this Christmas!

  • Christmas Choir

    The Downderry School Choir has had an exciting week! On Saturday they performed at The Glades, Bromley, to raise money for children’s charity Demelza. On Wednesday they sung for the Bellingham Goldie Oldies. Well done!

  • Basketball

    Downderry pupils took part in a Basketball festival held at Bonus Pastor. There were four schools, in a round robin tournament.

    Downderry finished 2nd overall to the eventual winners, Good Shepherd. The scores were very close right up to the last round. The atmosphere was exciting and the players all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and enjoyed meeting pupils from other schools.

  • Reading School

    Downderry is now officially a ‘Reading School’.  We have been awarded this by Scholastic and the Institute of Education who recognise our strong ethos of reading for pleasure and our dedication to ensuring all children at Downderry leave our school being able to read.  Well done!
  • Year 6 visit the Bellingham Golden Oldies

    Some Year 6 children had the honour of visiting members of the Bellingham Golden Oldies this week. The children shared some work around their current topic 'World War 2' and asked the members questions regarding their experience of the war. It was very interesting to hear first hand stories of what it was like to be a child at this time and learn about the members very different experiences of being evacuated.
  • Poppy Appeal

    Thanks to everyone who bought a poppy for Remembrance Day. Downderry raised a staggering £642.31 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal to fund welfare work for our Armed Forces families. The total raised by all schools in the BR1/BR2 area was £12,701.52.

  • Switch Off Day

    This week Downderry’s Eco-Warriors have been making sure teachers and pupils are “switching off” in order to avoid wasting energy!

     

    Today, we held a “No Electricity Day” which meant No computers, No interactive whiteboards and No iPads! It was a very successful day, helping the environment and saving some money on our electricity bill.

  • Children in Need

    Thank you to everyone who took part in our “Spotacular” day last Friday and came to school dressed in something spotty. We have raised £246.53 for Children in Need. Well done!

  • Christmas fair

    The Christmas fair will be held on Friday 8th December. We are offering 4 stall places. If you would like to set up your own stall at the fair please come to the office and fill in a form. Stalls will cost £15.

  • Early Years Learn and Play

    The Early Years “Spotacular” Learn & Play session was a huge success! Thank you to all the parents/carers who came along and joined in with all of our fun activities! The children had a great time and we hope you did too!
