  • Pupil questionnaire responses

    A full copy of the Summer term pupil questionnaire responses is published on the school website here...

     

    Notable headlines:

     

    • From 370 returns, 97% of pupils are happy to come to school
    • 99% felt that they learnt a lot in class
    • 97% reported that behaviour was good
    • 38% reported that children were friendly and polite most of the time and 57% felt that children were sometimes friendly and polite. This will be a focus in future assemblies and school council.
  • Year 4 School Journey

    This week, year 4 have been on school journey to Windmill Hill, East Sussex. They have had an adventure packed week including Archery, Abseiling, Canoeing, Raft building, climbing Jacob’s ladder and a Blindfolded sensory trail through the woods!

  • SATs

    Year 6 have been sitting SATs tests all week, which finished yesterday. We are immensely proud of all of the children and the hard work they have been putting in for several months now. Year 6 teachers would also like to extend a thank you to parents and carers, for your support during this time. We have all worked incredibly hard and shown tremendous teamwork.

     

    Well done to Years 3, 4, and 5, who have also been doing end of year tests this week!

  • Eco-Schools Bronze Award

    Thanks to the hard work and dedication of this year’s team of Eco-Warriors, Downderry has achieved its Eco-Schools Bronze Award, the first award needed to achieve Green Flag status!

     

    To get the award, the Eco-Warriors carried out an Environmental Review of the school in November. The aim of the Environmental Review was to identify the impact the school was having on the environment.

  • Sport Relief

    This week, we have been taking part in Sport Relief 2018! As one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise money and change lives.

     

    Students have been taking part in a number of sporting challenges throughout the week, while aiming to collect sponsorship for as many as they can complete.  A prize of a free session to ‘Rascals soft play’ will be given to the class that raise the most money so please could we ask for all sponsorship money to be brought in by Thursday 29th March. 

  • Swimming

    Last Friday a team of Year 5 and 6 children took part in the Lewisham Primary Schools Gala. Great performances from the whole team meant Downderry finished 2nd overall against 18 other schools from the Borough of Lewisham. Keyon was best year 5 boy and Noah was best year 6 boy overall, with Sathana finishing 2nd in the year 6 Girls category.

     

    Well done to everyone who took part!

  • World Down Syndrome Day

    On Wednesday Early Years celebrated World Down Syndrome Day. A parent kindly donated mismatched socks for the children to celebrate our differences.

  • Spring Concert

    Thank you to all parents, carers and friends who attended our Spring Concert, we hope you enjoyed the show. The children worked extremely hard rehearsing for the performances!

     

    The money raised from ticket sales will go to support our sponsored child at Emyezweni School in South Africa.
  • STEM week

    This week the children have been “Exploring” as part of STEM week. Children have been researching and building vehicles that can explore the polar regions, the deepest ocean and even space!

     

    On Monday we had a visit from Professor Nitrate and his ‘explosive’ experiments!
