Inspection of Downderry Primary School by Ofsted
Tue 17 May 2022We have just been told that Downderry will be inspected by Ofsted on 18 May 2022. The lead inspector will be Frances Hawkes. Ofsted would like to know what you think about Downderry. Please take a few minutes to read the letter and leaflet on the "Letters" page, it explains why we inspect schools and what happens during an inspection.
Your views about the school are important
If you are a registered parent or carer of a pupil at Downderry (including pupils on sick leave or who are temporarily excluded), you can tell Ofsted your views about our school by completing Ofsted's online survey, Ofsted Parent View, at: www.parentview.ofsted.gov.uk.
Ofsted Parent View asks for your opinion on some aspects of your child's school, including the progress made by your child, the quality of teaching, how the school deals with bullying and poor behaviour. It also provides a free-text box for you to make additional comments, if you wish. The inspectors will use the online survey responses when inspecting your child's school.
To register your views, you will need to provide your email address, which will be held securely. It will not be used for any purpose other than providing access to the online survey. Neither schools nor Ofsted will have access to any email addresses. Please complete the online survey by 11am on 18 May 2022 as this will give the inspection team more time to consider your views.

Covid – Update
Fri 22 Apr 2022The Government no longer provides free Coronavirus testing. Schools will continue with measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases – including good ventilation and using outdoor spaces; making sure people wash their hands regularly, use tissues and throw them away properly.
Please remind your children to cough into a tissue or their elbow, cover their mouth and nose with a tissue when they cough or sneeze, and to put used tissues in the bin immediately. Ask them to wash their hands with soap and water often, especially before eating, and to use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
For children, COVID-19 is usually a mild illness and most get better in a few days. Although testing is no longer available, children and young people should stay at home and avoid contact with other people if they have symptoms of COVID-19 and:
• have a high temperature or
• do not feel well enough to go to school or do their normal activities.
They can go back to school when they no longer have a high temperature and they are well enough to attend. 5 to 11 year olds who are well will be offered the COVID-19 vaccine in vaccination centres, pharmacies, GPs and walk-in centres.
