Wear Blue for UNICEF
Thu 19 Oct 2023A huge thank you to all the children and staff who wore blue today in honour of UNICEF! Our goal this year is to raise as much money as possible so that we can help provide access to clean water for children in developing countries, and with your support, the campaign is off to a great start!

Half TermFootball & Multi-Sports Camps
Wed 18 Oct 2023Millwall Community Trust are running Football and Multi-Sports camps during half term. The camps run from Monday 23rd October - Friday 27th October, 10am - 3pm from ages 5-13.

Spooking Disco
Wed 18 Oct 2023The Spooky Disco is back on Wednesday 18th October. Prizes will be awarded for the most spooktacular costumes!
Early Years 2:15 – 3pm
Key Stage 1 3:15 – 4pm
Key Stage 2 4:15 – 5pm
Tickets £2.00, including drinks and a packet of crisps. Payment should be made to your child’s teacher on the morning of the disco or on the door before entry.
Children in Early Years can come to school dressed in their costume. There will be no charge for Early Years.

School Photographs
Wed 04 Oct 2023The school photographer will be visiting school on Wednesday 4th October. Brothers and sisters attending Downderry will have their family photographs taken during the school day. If you would like to have photographs taken including siblings not attending Downderry, the photographer will be available from 8.30am – 8.50am in the Middle Hall, entrance via the Key Stage 1 playground.

Secondary School Transition 23-24
Thu 24 Aug 2023Lewisham Council is putting on an event on the evening of Tuesday 5th September which is the first week back, to learn and ask questions about the secondary admissions and application process.
It’s a good chance to ask any questions you might have, and also to meet representatives from Lewisham secondary schools ahead of the open days. Members of the special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and free school meal (FSM) teams will also be there to answer any questions.

NEU Teacher Strike: Partial School Opening Wednesday 5th July & Friday 7th July
Fri 30 Jun 2023Additional teacher strike days have been confirmed for Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th July when National Education Union (NEU) teachers will be striking at both national and regional level, in protest of teachers’ pay and conditions and school funding.
We can confirm that the following classes will be open on these days:
• Nursery: Gold (both days)
• Year 1: Beech (both days)
• Year 2 Rowan (both days)
• Year 2 Oak (Wednesday only)
• Year 3 Elm (both days)
• Year 5 Palm (both days)
• Year 6 Holly, Hazel (both days)
• Year 6 Cherry (Wednesday only)
Arrangements have been made with Chartwells, our school meals provider, to provide vouchers for those children entitled to a benefit related free school meal whose classes will be closed due strike action. Vouchers can be collected from the school office between 8am and 1pm on each of the strike days. A hot lunch will be provided for children who receive a school meal and whose classes remain unaffected by the strike.

Bake Off
Mon 19 Jun 2023Thank you to the PTA and to everyone who supported the PTA Bake Off on Friday afternoon. Congratulations to bake off champions Katrin and Sunenna (Y6 Holly) and to Alexander’s Mum in Chestnut class. Ulyana was crowned Downderry Star Baker. Prizes and bake tins can be collected from the main office.

Downham Celebrates
Fri 16 Jun 2023Celebrate 100 years of the Downham Estate with a free, family-fun day on Saturday 17th June, 11am-4pm at Downham Leisure Centre! Grab the kids and head down to enjoy rides and activities, competitions and prizes, live performances, a health marquee, food, trade stalls and more.
This project is run by Downham Celebrates and sponsored by Phoenix Community Housing.

Year 6 School Journey
Wed 17 May 2023Year 6 have arrived safely and are having lunch. After lunch, they will be getting ready for their first activity, scaling a climbing wall and using team work to ascend Jacob’s Ladder!’
Year 6 took part in the vertical challenge, abseiling and canoeing on day 2! They were even able to jump in the water!
