• Parent Learning Workshop - English

  The Parent Learning Workshops held this term on English were a great success. Here are some of the Comments we received.

   

  ‘Brilliant session!  I’m really pleased with the way you teach the kids, well done!’ - Reception 

  ‘We had a valuable time and it was very useful to help my child learning in future.’ - Year 2

  ‘I think these workshops are such a good idea as it gives parents knowledge and understanding of how the children are learning in class.’ - Year 3

• Ahoy 2013-2014

  We were visited by Tim and his colleague from the Ahoy sailing centre in Deptford. Our Year 6 children who went to the centre for a training program last year were presented in assembly with their RYA stage 1 sailing qualification, a nationally recognised award! Well done!

• School Council's campaign for a cleaner and greener area

  At the beginning of the year, school council were invited to join the mayor at his office in Catford for a meet and greet with a question and answer session. Justin, a school prefect in year 6, spoke to the mayor about local and surrounding areas, voicing his concerns regarding the amount of rubbish, littering and fly tipping. 

   

  A few weeks after the visit, the pavement outside our school gates was extended and widened to allow more room for parents and families. The green areas around our school were also tidied and cleaned. 

   

  Year 6 then began a project to help continue the campaign for a cleaner and greener area around our school. They took pictures, posted leaflets and wrote another letter to the mayor. 

   

  In September of this year, even more work was done to our surrounding area, planting of trees and renovating of grassed areas. We are very proud of the impact our pupils have made by the power of their voice.

  During the Autumn term we will be running a series of Parent Learning Workshops on English, Maths and SEN and Assessment.

  You will have the opportunity to work with your child and experience one of their lessons.

   

  6th - 10th October, English

  8th - 12th December, SEN and Assessment

• Target Celebration Tea

  On Thursday 16th January all children who have achieved their targets have been invited to a Celebratory Tea with their parents.

• NSPCC Number Day

  We are excited to be supporting the NSPCC by taking part in Number Day on Tuesday 3rd December 2013.  To mark the occasion we are suggesting that in return for a £1 donation for the NSPCC, children wear onesies or pyjamas with patterns or numbers on.  The NSPCC does a lot of amazing work for children including Child Line and information for adults who are concerned about a child - so let's show them our support!
