They took part in a variety of adventurous activities including raft building, rifle shooting & abseiling! The children's behaviour was excellent and they represented Downderry incredibly well throughout the trip! You can see more photos on the Latest News page of the school website.

A BIG thank you to the staff involved who took time away from their families to enable this memorable experience.

  • Downham 100 Digital Logo design

    Fri 17 May 2024

This week Ayda, Year 5, worked with Mia from Sevenfields Primary Care Network to transform her winning logo design into a digital format. The logo will be used to promote events as Downham celebrates its 100th birthday next year!

Mia commented, not only upon the design itself but Ayda’s character. “ Ayda is a very talented young lady and I have no doubt she will go far if she chooses to pursue her creativity further. She was so polite and engaged with me, and she made it far easier to work with than adults I know in creative fields! She is a credit to Downderry school and her parents.” Well done Ayda!

  • TCS London Mini-Marathon

    Mon 22 Apr 2024

On Saturday, 80 children and their parents from Downderry headed into central London to complete the TCS London Mini-Marathon. Despite it being a little colder and windier than ideal, a wonderful day was had by all running either the 2.6km or 1-mile route starting from Horse Guards Parade and finishing on The Mall after a glorious run past Buckingham Palace. Some took the chance to show off their competitive prowess and put their Daily Mile practice into good use while others enjoyed a more leisurely pace, seeing the sights and lapping up the fantastic support from observers on the side lines.

Congratulations to all who took part! Also, a special thanks to those staff who gave up their Saturday to support the children at the event! We look forward to completing this event again next year - hopefully with even more Downderry representatives taking part!

Children in years 1 & 2 who have been raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Antenatal Results & Choices have together raised over £1800 for the charities. Well Done!
