  • Anti-Bullying Week

    This week Downderry has been celebrating Anti-bullying Week, alongside schools around the country. Throughout the week pupils have been focusing on teamwork and discussing bullying prevention, including special workshops with Anita.

  • Parent Governor Election - result

    Thank you to the candidates who stood for the Governor Elections earlier this week, and indeed, to all the Parents who voted. Votes have been counted and we are pleased to announce our new Parent Governors: Marie Laure Volvert and Maria Moleda.

  • Parent Governor Election

    The election of our new parent governors will take place on Monday 11th November from 8:30am-3:20pm in the main school office area, where candidate details will be displayed and voting papers made available. One vote per parent.

     

    Standing candidates are: Marie Laure Volvert, Maria Moleda and Sophie Lockwood. We wish all our candidates every success- happy voting!

  • Year 2 London Fire Brigade Visit

    This week, Year 2 had a visit from the London Fire Brigade. The children learned about the importance of having a working smoke alarm in their homes and how to test the battery. They discussed fire hazards that can be found at home, and how to avoid them to keep safe. The children also learned what to do in a fire emergency.

  • Children in Need

    Today, children celebrated Children in Need by coming to school in their own clothes. Thank you to everyone who was able to make a donation to support Children in Need. We raised £299.48.

  • Remembrance

    Mon 11 Nov 2024

    The children and staff at Downderry commemorated Remembrance Day with a special assembly and a two-minute silence. A group of pupils from Year 6 attended the Remembrance Day Service at Downham cenotaph, alongside representatives from local schools.

  • Flu Vaccination

    The Lewisham Immunisation team will be at Downderry on 2nd December to deliver the Flu vaccine nasal spray to children in Reception to Year 6.

  • Drumming Workshop

    This week, music industry professional Wol Webster visited to provide an exciting assembly

    and workshop for KS2 children. Maybe he has helped inspire the next generation of top drummers!

  • Black History Week

    This week we have been celebrating Black History as part of Black History Month. Year 1 enjoyed a mini steel pan performance from Miss Phillips. The children have spent the week learning about the reggae artist Maxi Priest, a musical Lewisham legend!

  • MacMillan Cake Sale

    A BIG thank you to everyone who helped to make our Macmillan cake sale such a success.
    We raised £334.42 for Macmillan Cancer Support!
