  • Black History Week

    Fri 05 Oct 2018

This week children have been celebrating Black History Week, with each year group focusing their learning on a different black artist. Throughout the week they have taken part in a workshop with Mr Green, thinking about how they can portray a particular piece of their artists work through music.

We have taken inspiration from each artist in various ways: through PE and movement, Art, English and Maths.

  • Football Festival

    Fri 05 Oct 2018

On Thursday Downderry competed in a football festival hosted by Bonus Pastor. Both our boys and girls teams tried hard and supported each other really well. They were also supported by a large contingent of family members and school staff. With a record of one win, two draws and one loss, our girls team came third in the girls’ tournament. The Boys team won the boys tournament with one draw and five wins! Well done to all our players. A great start to our football season!

  • Harvest Festival Assembly

    Fri 05 Oct 2018

We will be having a special Harvest assembly on Wednesday 17th October, where children will be learning about Harvest from Father Stuart.

We are collecting tins, dried food and packets to donate to the elderly representatives from Bellingham Golden Oldies and to the Lewisham Food Bank. Your gift will be appreciated. Children are asked to bring donations to their class by Monday 15th October.

  • Roald Dahl Day

    Fri 21 Sep 2018

Thank you for all the support on Roald Dahl Day on Thursday 13th September! We had a marvellous day, celebrating Roald Dahl and all his wonderful characters and books.

Roald Dahl was famous for writing in his shed.  This year’s competition is for children to submit their favourite places to read and/or write. Take a photo and write a short explanation as to why this place is your favourite!

Well done to everyone who entered our Roald Dahl competition. All the entries for this year’s competition were fantastic!
