PTA
Welcome to the
Downderry Primary School PTA
We’re delighted to have you here.
The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) plays a vital role in bringing our school community together, and we would love for you to be a part of it. We work closely with the school to plan exciting events, raise funds, and support initiatives that directly benefit our students.
Our Aim
Our goal is simple: to build a strong partnership between parents and teachers. Together, we organise fun school events and fundraising activities to enrich our children’s school experience. The money we raise goes toward funding extracurricular activities, providing equipment and creating opportunities that enhance learning for all students.
Who Can Join the PTA?
All parents and staff members at Downderry Primary School are warmly invited to join. Whether you can contribute time, expertise, or ideas, we truly appreciate any help you can offer. The more parents involved, the more fun and successful our events will be!
Joining is easy! Simply email us at admin@downderry.lewisham.sch.uk with your name and phone number, or reach out to your Class Representative, who can connect you with a PTA Committee member.
Why Join the PTA?
We’d love to have you as part of our community.
Becoming a member doesn’t mean committing to anything specific—it just keeps you informed, allows you to share ideas, and gives you the option to volunteer whenever you can. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference!
PTA Communication
We hold regular PTA meetings at the school to discuss plans, fundraising ideas, and upcoming events. These meetings are open to all parents and staff, and whenever possible, a school representative will also attend. Meeting dates are shared on the school website and through Class Representatives’ WhatsApp groups.
We also have a PTA WhatsApp group for members, where we share updates, allocate tasks, and ask for volunteers to help run events. It’s a great way to stay involved at your own pace.
Our PTA Committee
Our PTA Committee includes key roles such as Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Co-Secretaries, Treasurer, Co-Treasurer, and Events Coordinators & Planners. The Committee leads the PTA, collaborates with the school, and organises events and volunteers to ensure everything runs smoothly.
We are always looking for more people to help! If you’d like to get more involved, feel free to attend a meeting or contact a Class Representative, who can connect you with a Committee member.
PTA Fundraising Efforts
With school budgets under pressure, PTA fundraising helps provide valuable resources and experiences for our children. Most of our funding comes from parents, and we are committed to being transparent about how the money is spent.
To help with this, the new PTA Committee has developed an annual report detailing how funds raised last year enriched the children’s school experience. We will continue to provide updates at PTA meetings.
PTA Events
The PTA supports the school by hosting exciting events throughout the year, including school fairs, discos, bake sales, and more. Keep an eye on the school newsletter and noticeboards for regular updates.
