  • 100% Attendance

    Thu 21 Jul 2022

At Downderry we aspire to high standards of attendance from all of our pupils, enabling them to get the most out of their school experience, including their attainment, wellbeing, and wider life chances. Pupils with the highest rates of attendance achieve best at school.

We would like to thank Mr David Leed and the T Brown group for their generous donation of an iPad to 1st Name of Child, the lucky winner! 100% attendance winners all received a trophy and WHSmith gift voucher.

  • Athlete Visit

    Thu 21 Jul 2022

We recently welcomed international athlete Frederick Afrifa to our school. Frederick challenged the children to complete a high intensity circuit session, then, in an assembly, described his journey to achieve his dream of one day competing in the Olympics. His core messages were ‘keep moving forwards’ and ‘never give up’. We hope he has inspired our children to stay active and understand what is required to achieve your ambition.

Thank you to all the sponsorship money that has been collected and sent in. We have raised over £1600 which will help us purchase sports equipment to inspire our children further. We plan to use it to purchase sports equipment to inspire our children further.

  • Have Your Say on Lewisham Childcare Provision

    Wed 20 Jul 2022

The pandemic and cost of living crisis has made things difficult for many parents and carers and Lewisham Family Information Service want to hear your experiences of childcare provision.

Complete the online survey to help them better understand how they can support families accessing childcare in the borough.

  • Extreme Weather Warning

    Fri 15 Jul 2022

During periods of high temperature, the following steps are taken to keep your child safe:

    • children should not take part in vigorous physical activity on very hot days

    • any outdoor play is restricted and limited to the shade as much as possible

    • children should wear loose, light-coloured clothing to help keep cool and sunhats with wide brims to avoid sunburn

    • sunscreen (at least factor 15- the higher the better with UVA protection) should be worn to protect skin

    • children should drink plenty of water and be encouraged to drink more than usual

    Remember...

    Slip on a T-shirt,
    Slap on a hat.
Slop on some sun cream. Please note that teachers and support staff are not allowed to apply sunscreen to children.

In the event of a level 4 red alert, where the temperature rises to major incident, please keep an eye on the school website for possible school closure.
