  • Beat the heat

    Fri 15 Jul 2016

Although most of us welcome the summer sun, high temperatures can be harmful to your health. In one hot spell in August 2003 in England and Wales there were over 2,000 extra deaths than would normally be expected. The heat can affect anyone, but some people run a greater risk of serious harm. As our climate changes, hot spells are expected to be more frequent and more intense.

Below are links to Public Health England documents which tell you how to stay safe in hot weather, including how to keep your home cool. It tells you who is at greatest risk of ill health from the heat, how to recognise when you or someone’s health may be affected, and what to do if you or someone else becomes unwell as a result of the heat.

  • Sports Day

    Fri 01 Jul 2016

Forget Rio, here at Downderry we have our own fantastic sports day!

Over the course of the week, we have had three thrilling sports days, starting with Early Years on Tuesday, then Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 on Wednesday.
Although the weather was not on our side, it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the pupils and supporters.
There were some wacky races, and some challenging sprints, and over all a great week of sport.
A HUGE thank you to everyone who came to watch and support our competitors!
