• England does the Daily Mile

  Children and staff are invited and encouraged to come to school in their PE kit on Friday 30th April as Downderry takes part in 'England does the Daily Mile’. https://thedailymile.co.uk/england-does-the-daily-mile/

   

  In light of the events in the past year, children’s mental health, and its relation to physical activity, is more important than ever. Let’s help get the Downderry community moving, to celebrate the positive benefits that daily activity can have on our mental health.

  

• Swimming Lessons

  From next week, (week beginning Monday 26th April), ALL children in years 1-4 will have swimming lessons every week and no longer be alternating Girls and Boys weeks. Year 5 swimming lessons will continue to alternating Boys and Girls each week.

• Stephen Lawrence Day

  On Thursday 22nd April, we celebrated Stephen Lawrence Day. Children spoke about equality, feeling valued and respecting everyone regardless of their differences. We enjoyed the discussions and activities, as it helps us to question and challenge the injustices and behaviours in the world.

   

  Stephen Lawrence was special, he was good at art, sport and maths. Year one wrote about ‘What makes them Special’. #StephenLawrence #SLDay21 #ALegacyForChange
