    Year 3 have been working hard all week on writing their own newspaper reports. They were visited today by a journalist from the Daily Mail to answer their questions about newspapers and journalism. 

  • Key Stage 2 Carol Service

    Children in Key Stage 2 will be attending a Christmas Service at St. Barnabas Church on Thursday 13th December, 9.30am - 10:30am.

     

    All parents and carers are invited to join us for the service at the church.
  • Book Fair

    The Book Fair will be arriving at school on Wednesday 5th December and run until Monday 10th, in the Middle Hall from 3:00-3:30pm. There will be some great deals on books for Christmas.

  • Poppy Appeal

    Thanks to everyone who bought a poppy for Remembrance Day. Downderry raised a staggering £645.71 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal to fund welfare work for our Armed Forces families. The total raised by all schools in the BR1/BR2 area was £10,922.20.

  • Switch-Off Week

    This week Downderry’s Eco-Warriors have been making sure teachers and pupils are “switching off” in order to avoid wasting energy!

     

    Today children came to school wearing their brightest clothes, as it was “No Electricity Day” which meant No computers, No interactive whiteboards and No iPads! It was a very successful day, helping the environment and saving some money on our electricity bill.

    97% of pupils agreed that “I am happy to come to school”

  • Bottle-Cap Art - Recycling Initiative

    The Eco-Warriors are asking for any plastic bottle-caps to be brought to school from now until the summer term - any colour, any size! We hope to create an amazing mural out of all the bottle-caps collected and in doing so highlight the importance of recycling throughout the school!

  • Anti-Bullying Week

    Our local community police officers visited Downderry this week to deliver safety talks to pupils in Key Stage 1 and 2 as part of Anti-Bullying Week. The children really enjoyed his visit and participated in group discussions.
