Part Time / Full Time (4 – 5 days per week)

The Governors are seeking to appoint an experienced SENDCO or experienced class teacher who has the ambition, passion and interest to take on their first SENDCO role. Applicants should be dynamic and have the vision and determination to continue to keep Downderry an outstanding school. They must be able to demonstrate excellent pedagogy and ideally have experience teaching across the whole primary age range. Applicants must be able to demonstrate evidence of management skills and be committed to inclusive practice, helping to shape excellent classroom provision and support, enabling all children to achieve their full potential. You must have the NASENCO qualification or willingness to complete the NPQ for SENCOs from September 2024.

Job Duties Include:

  • Develop and implement a whole school SEN strategy: SEND policies and procedures
  • Co-ordinate SEND provision and support across the school
  • Assess the needs of pupils with special educational needs
  • Work closely with teachers, parents and external agencies to support SEND pupils
  • Leading training and support on SEND, and advising on SEN support available
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of SEND interventions
  • Reporting to Governors
