If you are interested in working with the children at Downderry Primary School please contact our school office for more information.

Healthy Schools

Full time nursery and reception children can be provided with a hot lunch or bring in a packed lunch from home. Healthy snacks are provided throughout the day, as well as milk and water for all children.

Nursery lunch begins at 11:20am with reception following at 11:30am.

Star of the week

As you may have seen, our class bears go home on Thursdays, to someone who we feel has been a super star throughout the week. The book is filled with their adventures and returned for the next star.

Nursery - Important Information

Nursery give out homework every Friday. The homework is always based on topics that we cover in class. Parents are invited to change their child's book from the class library. We encourage this to happen at least once a week.

Every Thursday children are selected from Gold and Silver class to be the 'Stars of the Week'.

They have the opportunity to take home the class bears and write what they do with them inside the class 'Star of the week' book.

PE:

Nursery have PE on Fridays.

Please ensure your child's name is on all items of clothing.

Our Journey So Far...

The children have been super busy over the last two terms, fully engrossing themselves in our wonderful topics. Most recently, we have learnt about the people who help us, finding out about the important jobs adults do and what we would like to do when we grow up. Scroll down to see our exciting visit from our local Police officers!

Early Years also celebrated 'Health and Social Skills Week'. We learnt about the importance of keeping ourselves healthy, both in body and mind. Activities included; practising the correct handwashing technique, finding out about healthy and unhealthy foods, yoga and a special visit from the dentist! At the end of this page you can see some pictures.

Children's Yoga and Mindfulness

Why not try some yoga and mindfulness at home. Here is an example of Cosmic Kids Yoga on YouTube. There are lots to choose from.
