Our topic this term is 'When I Grow up...'

 

Nursery - Important Information

 

Nursery give out homework every Friday. The homework is always based on topics that we cover in class. We also change the children's books once a week. 

 

Every Thursday children are selected from Gold and Silver class to be the 'Stars of the Week'.

They have the opportunity to take home the class bears, Super Ted and Henry and write what they do with them inside the class 'Star of the week' book.

We value the contribution of our parent volunteers at Downderry Primary School, they enhance the learning opportunities for our children as well as the support they can give to enhancing the environment.

Healthy Schools

Full time nursery and reception children can be provided with a hot lunch or bring in a packed lunch from home. Healthy snacks are provided throughout the day, as well as milk and water for all children.

 

Nursery lunch begins at 11:20am with reception following at 11:30am.

Parents Open Morning

Star of the week

Gold class' Super TedSilver class' Henry

As you may have seen, our class bears go home on Thursdays, to someone who we feel has been a super star throughout the week. The book is filled with their adventures and returned for the next star. 

Start with a BANG!

Though it is only the start of the year, the children are already producing some fantastic work, linked to our weekly topics. The children has really enjoyed exploring different areas of the classroom, and have showed their artistic skills in many ways.

Our topic this term is 'Paws & Claws'.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

 

Homework:

Every child has a home learning folder that will be given out every Friday. Inside will be an overview of what we have learnt this week and what we will be learning next week. There will also be a maths or literacy challenge for your child to complete. This folder needs to be returned by Wednesday. The children also are given two reading books that should be shared each evening. These books are changed once a week. 

 

PE:

Reception have PE on Mondays.
 

Children need to wear black shorts, a red t-shirt and a pair of plimsolls or trainers. Please ensure your child has no earrings in and that long hair is tied back on this day.

 

Please ensure your child's name is on all items of clothing.

 

 

Spare Clothing

In the event of ------ ensure that children have spare clothing kept at school at all times.
